Warum diese Sammlung?

Mein Hobby ist es, interessante Taschenrechner zu sammeln.

Die meisten interessanten Taschenrechner haben Hewlett Packard, Texas Instruments, Braun, Aristo und ein paar wenige andere Hersteller fabriziert.
Viele meiner Taschenrechner benutzen die UPN-Eingabelogik (umgekehrte polnische Notation), denn ich halte dieses Verfahren für besser als die algebraische Eingabe.
Darüber hinaus ist es für den täglichen Gebrauch wichtig, wie sich die Tastatur anfühlt. Das spricht wiederum für Hewlett Packard Rechner.
Tischrechner mit eingebauten Druckern sind üblichweise keine Taschen-Rechner und darum hier kaum zu finden.
Ich bevorzuge im allgemeinen wissenschaftliche Rechner. Es finden sich aber auch einige Finanz-Mathematik Modelle.
Programmierbare wie auch nicht-programmierbare Rechner sind hier vorhanden.
Die Geräte müssen weder besonders alt noch in fabrikneuem Zustand sein.
Aber sie müssen einwandfrei funktionieren!!
Gibt es einen Rechner, den ich für den besten überhaupt halte? Schwere Eintscheidung! Der HP-67, HP-15C, HP-28S, HP-32SII und Casio PB-2000C sind meine bevorzugten Modelle. Sie sind enorm leistungsfähig und dennoch einfach zu bedienen.

Es scheint, das Zeitalter der Taschenrechner geht zuende. Sie wurden ersetzt durch weitaus leistungsfähigere PDAs (personal digital assistents), Palmtop and Laptop Computer. Es gibt immer noch ein paar "Spielzeug-Rechner" bei denen aber geringe Herstellungskosten und schrille Farben und Formen wichtiger sind als die Anforderungen des täglichen Gebrauchs.

Die Befürchtung, dass wir wohl nie wieder soetwas wie den HP-67 sehen werden, war einer der Gründe, warum ich diese Sammlung im Sommer 2002 begonnen habe.

Why This Collection?

My objective is to collect interesting pocket calculators.

Most of the interesting calculators were made by Hewlett Packard, Texas Instruments, Braun, Aristo and a few other manufacturers.
Since I consider RPN (reverse polish notation) superior to algebraic entry many of my calculators use RPN.
Furthermore, the feeling of the keyboard is important for every day usage; this again speaks for HP calculators.
Desktop calculators and calculators with printers are (usually) not considered pocket calculators.
My focus is clearly on scientific calculators but there are also a number of business/financial type models.
Both programmable as well as non-programmable calculators can be found here.
My focus is neither on very old-aged nor on "mint" calculators nor on collecting complete series.
I very much dislike defective calculators.
Now is there a calculator that I consider the ultimate best ever made? This is a hard decision! The HP-67, HP-15C, HP-28S, HP-32SII and Casio PB-2000C are my top favourites. They are very powerful yet simple to operate.

My feeling is that the age of pocket calculators is coming to an end. They are being replaced by much more powerful PDAs (personal digital assistents), palmtop and laptop computers. There still are some "kids toy calculators" which focus on reduced production costs, crazy shapes and bright colors rather than on serious work.

Thus fearing that we won't ever see anything like the HP-67 again was one of the reasons why I started this collection in summer 2002.

Deutsch Soweit möglich habe ich versucht, meine Seiten zweisprachig Deutsch/Englisch zu gestalten. Allerdings fehlt mir schlichtweg die Zeit, dieses Konzept überall durchzuhalten. Viele Seiten exisitieren nur in Englisch, der Sprache des Internets. Englisch ist außerdem die verbindende Sprache in Europa und auch deshalb nach meiner Meinung angemessen. But I clearly prefer English because it is the language of the Internet and also the only truly common language in Europe.
